Time to celebrate more babies!!

Now that Elizabeth and Thomas are healthy and at home the time has come to celebrate their birth and, lets face it, to ohh and ahh at everything small and baby-related! See details below and contact Muryn if you have any questions or concerns.

When: Saturday April 8th (lots of notice, so mark it on your calendar now)

Where: Langley (exact location to be annouced)

What time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Other: Please bring something to eat. Please post what you are bringing so that we don't end up with 8 bags of tortilla chips and salsa!

More Other: Let use this as an oportunity to have a big church women's gathering. Car pool into Langley if possible. We women rarely get a chance to all hang out sans men & children...so take advantage!

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!

"Sans men and children"? Will you be wanting the twins themselves there? There's no need for me to be there, of course, if I am of the wrong gender -- I'm sure I can find something really butch and manly to do! -- but I'd be a bit surprised if the tiny tots who are the sine qua non for this grand occasion were not there to explain themselves. :)

hey there, easy on our muryn, eh-- :)

my childhood memories harken back to the day when it was the social norm for only girl children who agreed to act like young ladies to have the priveledge of attending a baby shower. the new dads probably made a sneak appearance to help to deliver the mom and newborn(s) and then come fetch all the loot, apres.

i don't see any girls busting in on the fun of the evening "mens breakfasts" or "the guys pancakes + ball hockey in the parking lot"

that being said--peace be to all you men and boy children clammouring to come to baby showers.

we are living in postmodern times. :)

the babies in question are totally allowed...as is any other small baby still attached to his mother (is: Owen, Joshua, Nolan etc). i didn't intend to create outcry with the declaration to "leave men and children at home". but i think men and older children should be left home in the efforts of making this a true women's gathering.

I think it's better to have more than less...
But girl times are lovely too.

Maybe Dave can babysit!?!

i don't make the rules...i make suggestions. it isn't up to me to decide if kids come or not. i feel like this is becoming an issue. decide amongst yourselves...

Owen and I will be there. I'll bring a yummy desert of some kind... whatever the local grocery store has on special that day. :)

Vic, maybe Gabe could have a boys day with Jonah and Christian that day, and you and I and Avery can carpool in together... what say you?

dont' forget Danny.
I've got 3 boys now.
what was I thinking?

Sorry, Muryn, didn't mean to make this an "issue" -- I'm just one of those nitpicky people who needs to know where the lines are drawn before I start to colour within them. You should hear the questions with which I pepper our priests -- I think they find me more amusing than exasperating, for now. :)

I wouldn't say I'm "clamoring" to be there at the shower, as such. In fact, I rather relish the thought of being by myself -- or perhaps helping to look after someone else's kids -- or, er, doing really butch and manly things -- for a change. :)

without kids can be nice, though having them tag along to an event like this is easier than at say a study or book discussion. Would going kidless prevent anyone from coming? Or would the location be a factor? If we do have it at the church, perhaps someone could bring a new video instead of the same tired old ones they have in the library right now?

and while we figure all this out, let's remember it's Lent, when things sometimes get confused and upsetting for no apparent reason-- be on your guard....

hmm...I don't see a way to edit comments rather than posts?

So I'll just add a ps-- if it is going to be at a private home, perhaps the hostess will declare the kid question by fiat and resolve this?

Is there a DVD player at church? Whether or not I end up going myself, I could send a few discs with Deanna -- I've got a pretty good collection of cartoons and stuff. My long-out-of-date DVD collection is listed here. We might have some suitable videotapes, too.

thanks for the comment Mat.Donna; of course this discussion does not pertian to me in that i dont live in langley anymore; but to be on our guard does pertain to me too!!

i notice that when i am fasting on fridays for presantified here in ottawa, i am so jumpy/out of sorts, it's quite something...

so thanks for the apt and timely reminder... :)

I think it's totally great either with or without children (but that may be because Joshua already got an exemption!) :P

Thanks Myn, for taking charge!

See you all there!

Have we decided if kids are coming or not? I ahve a ton of kids videos and DVD's (Veggie Takes, Disney, etc.) I will bring just in case there are a few and they get bored with the adult conversation.
