does anyone have?

Well. Biss' idea for the cookbook blog [so to speak] is becoming more and more a Really Good Idea... since it is still beginning.... I am posting my request here!

Does anyone have a quick recipe for apple crisp this that uses regular oatmeal? :) I have company coming tonight for tea and I forgot to take my cranberry break out of the freezer... what can I say other than "busy week"...

Any other quick suggestions, please post them... thanks!

measurements are difficult for me to be exact about, but...

1 cup of butter or margarine,
3/4 cup of brown sugar
3/4 cup of oatmeal
enough flower to make it thick enough-add it little by little until you are satisfied.
a bunch of apples, enough to cover your pan
lemon juice and cinnamon

chop and peel the apples, (wait, do that after you have the crumble part)

combine the dry goods in a bowl, sugar butter etc, it sticks together a bit, just enough to make little crumblies and pack together too.

put lemon juice on the apples, sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on the apples, then put the crumble mix on top, pack it down, and then sprinkle crumbly bits on top of that.

I know that is not very systematic, sorry, maybe it could be called orthodox apple crumble.

It turns out well, ask sister angelina, its the same way I made some strawberry crisp a while ago. she liked it.

peace.

thanks! that is great... i have all of those ingredients save the apples, which i will pick up on my way home... for a smallish dish of it should i get around 5 apples or so?

one other question... do you bake it at around 350 or more like 425... and for how long? 20 minutes or more like 40 or 60? thanks again...

yeah, 350 for about 35-40 minutes. mostly you want the apples to get all melty, because the crisp part doesn't rise, or bake or change chemically, the butter will melt and the sugar will crystallize a bit, but otherwise its just enough to get crispy and hot. ice cream always goes well. five apples should do.
