There goes the neighbourhood!

Anyone here checked St. Herman's address at Google Maps lately? I was curious to see how up-to-date their maps and satellite images were, and, well, here's the satellite image:

And here's the "hybrid" image -- note how the map already takes into account new streets that did not yet exist when the satellite image was taken:

actually, it's "Here COMES the neighbourhood"....a ripe mission field is springing up around our doors. More of our people than ever before live closer to the church building, the gathering place for our community, than ever before. There is much potential for service and outreach in between the regular services. anyone have any ideas? For one, I think we should start planning NOW for Christmas carolling in Advent-- perhaps in the Alaskan style of "starring" where the children make beautifully arrayed icon-stars on poles and carry them in procession to houses round about the church.....for another, perhaps the young mothers /homeschoolers from our parish could host a morning coffee social in the church hall not just for themselves, but for other young mothers in the area.
So, who's next with some ideas?

I'm interested in the morning coffee social ... I attend some at other churches in Abbotsford and they are fairly successful (meaning well attended)!
